EMERGENCY BLOOD DRIVE BUS @ GODBEY TRAFFIC CIRCLE
MONDAY, SEPT. 18 FROM 10AM – 3PM

September blood collections are down and are in keeping with current needs. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT NOW, If YOU WISH TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT. APPOINTMENTS CAN BE MADE AT www.redcrossblood.org and walk-ins are welcome.



Motivational Speaker Bill Deering will present his story about overcoming life challenges in Martin 242 from 1:25-2:20pm as part of the SDV 100 class, but all are invited to join us as space is permitted. This event is sponsored by NRCC Student Activities.



-Calling All Chess Players! Students who are interested in playing in this tournament are asked to be in the lounge on Monday, September 29, at 3:00 p.m. Sign-ups for this event will begin at 2:30 pm in the Lounge. Matches will be randomly drawn made after the signups close at 2:50pm. Single elimination matches will be played until the tournament winners are decided. 3rd place: $10.00 Walmart gift card 2nd place: $15.00 Walmart gift card 1st place: $25.00 Walmart gift card Sponsored by NRCC Student Activities.

The baseball team will travel to Bluefield WV to play Bluefield State College in a 1:00pm double header. Go Muskies!



The Student Government Association (SGA) will participate in the NRV Heart Walk event in Bissett Park, Radford starting at 1:30pm. Go SGA!



Attention Graduating Students:
If you think you are a potential graduation candidate for Fall 2014, Spring 2015, or Summer 2015 and have not applied for graduation, you should plan to attend one of the following sessions:

At the information session you will receive instructions about completing the graduation application and supporting documentation required to ensure you meet the graduation requirements. The meeting should last only about 30 minutes. Completed graduation applications are due in the Admissions and Records Office by Friday, November 14. Students must apply for graduation to be eligible for a degree, diploma, certificate, or a career studies certificate.

The 2014-15 graduation ceremony will be Friday, May 15, 2014. Information about graduation practice, caps, gowns, etc. will be sent out in late March.

In Our Community:

-The Pulaski County Humane Society will now be open every Monday until 6 pm. this will give you and your friends time to stop by and find your forever friend.:) We can't do an adoption after 4 pm but you'll have time to check out the critters and see which one touches your heart the most. The other good news is that the Humane Society will be holding two low-cost vaccination clinics on Oct. 11th and 25th. Rabies, canine and feline distemper shots are only $5. Call 674-0089 or email pchsv@gmail to make an appt. Appointments are better but we won't turn anyone away, you might just have to wait a bit w/o the appt.


-I'm Casey Bailey working in the School of Education department at Virginia Tech with Dr. Magliaro as a Volunteer Coordinator through Americorps VISTA. As part of my role working with VT-STEM Pipeline programs we are preparing for the First Annual Virginia Science Festival on October 4th here in Blacksburg. We are in the process of recruiting volunteers and would like to share the attach information with you in hopes that you'll share it with students, family, friends or student organizations/ community. -NASA Seeks Community College STEM Students!

The NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) application is now open for the spring session!

Community college students interested in exploring a STEM career at NASA can apply today to become a NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar.

Scholars learn about past, present and future Mars mission in a 5-week online session beginning January 2015. Scholars who successfully complete the web-based activities may be eligible for a 3-day workshop at NASA, where they will:

· Work on a team project directed by NASA engineers

· Attend briefings by NASA engineers and scientists

· Tour NASA facilities
